“We already have a textbook for that.”
Plenty of schools do. The question is when it is next reviewed, and who sits on that review.
Alba runs the calls into US schools and district offices for you: the front office, the department head, the curriculum director and the business office. Your team gets the quotes, the adoption conversations and the names of who actually decides.
One managed caller on the Growth plan is $2,006 a month equivalent on quarterly prepay ($6,018 every three months), or $2,367.08 on monthly flexible billing, plus $1,500 setup once. Caller, parallel dialer and data are all in that number.
Talk to Scott about your list See every priceA school is the opposite of a business owner. The front office picks up all day, and that is the trap: a caller can spend a month being polite to receptionists and never reach the curriculum director, the department chair or the purchasing contact at the district.
Buying is split. A teacher or department head wants the material, a curriculum or instructional leader approves it, and a business office or purchasing contact issues the order. The caller has to learn which of those three the school has, and get the name and the best time for each.
So every call has two goals. Reach the decision maker if they are in. If not, leave with the right name, title and extension, which makes the next dial a warm one.
School lists decay in a pattern. Staff move at the end of the year, district offices reorganise in summer, and a contact who was right in May is gone by September. We rebuild the list around the school calendar, separate district offices from individual schools, and keep international and non-US records out of the dialer.
The calendar also sets the calendar for calling. Budgets are planned in spring, orders land before the new year starts, and the weeks around exams and holidays are quiet. Your caller works the windows when the buyer is actually at a desk.
On our textbook engagement we reviewed the recorded calls, not just the totals. The biggest leak was not price or timing. It was comprehension: callers who opened too fast lost the listener, and the opening turned into "sorry, who is this?"
The fix went into the script. Slow down, say the company name once and clearly, and name the subject the school already teaches before naming any product. A department head will give you thirty seconds for their own course. They will not give you thirty seconds to decode a pitch.
Plenty of schools do. The question is when it is next reviewed, and who sits on that review.
Happy to. Who else should see it, so it does not stop at your inbox?
Proof tier 1: dials and answers measured on a live engagement. Updated 2026-08-19.
We made 43,984 calls into US schools and districts for one US textbook company between 7 July and 19 August 2026. The engagement is written up on its own page.
Read the textbook engagementSchool offices answer through the day, but teachers and department heads are free before first period and after the last bell, so the morning edge of our 8am finding is the window that matters.
Across every engagement in the study (18 May to 11 August 2026), 16.7% of dials reached a person. At 8am, local time it was 33.3%; at 4pm, local time, 7.8%. Wednesday reached 23.7% against 6.0% on Monday. These are our aggregate numbers, not a figure for this industry.
